Jan Fook is a well-known international scholar who is widely recognized for her work on critical social work, practice research and critical reflection. Having published extensively in these areas, she has held professorial level positions in Social Work and Education at several different universities in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Norway.

She has published on critical reflection, critical spirituality and working in human service organisations as well as writing and co-editing books with Jan Fook on critical reflection. Her current research is focused on establishing the value of spiritual care in health settings and on the use of critical reflection in education to change the classroom experience.
